The leading point of the festival of course is the exhibition of the finalist posters from the 9. International Student Poster Competition entitled “Identity in Crisis” which were selected by the international 5-member jury: Michel Bouvet (FRA), Fons Hickmann (GER), Finn Nygaard (DEN), Ryszard Kaja (POL) and Toni Vasikj (MAC).

Miguel Angel Rangel, University of San Louis Potosi, Mexico and Reka Nemedi Varga from the Metropoliten University in Budapest, Hungary took the main awards. Two special jury mentions went to Shujun Liu from China and Dikle Jildirim from Turkey and honorary mentions were announced Junyi & Zejun Shan & Wang and Kylie Dimick from USA, Lazar Mitrović from Serbia,  Inês Filipa da Costa Pimenta Cardoso from Portugal, Nicola Murphy from United Kingdom and Karol Szczepankiewicz from Poland.

This year exhibition of the student posters is scheduled to travel around the world. The finalist student poster exhibition of 9. ISPC Skopjeposter entitled “Identity in Crisis” is to be showcased in Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Greece, USA. Additional traveling exhibitions will be scheduled in the following months!

”Our priority is to promote students and their works at as many places as possible. This year we were exhibiting in Bulgaria, Serbia and Russia, during the 12th Golden Bee. This year we will present “Identity in Crisis in many around the globe.” – stated Gere Posterov, president of the Plakart, organiser of the Skopje Poster Festival.

This festival is not only of benefit to the design community in Macedonia, but also initiates a collaboration with the faculties and academies of visual communications in order students to experience practical work during this venue. One of the main goal of Plakart is to connect the students from all over the world and in that matter Kaja Depta Kleśta from Poland was invited to Skopje to make a presentation of the role that this festival plays in students life and how this influenced her self-confidence in reaching the highest goals.

Next year Plakart is celebration 10-year anniversary of the International Student Poster Competition and Skopje Poster Festival and promises not to let down graphic design fans. Expect the most inspiring and creative festival so far!

Identity in Crisis was the topic of this year competition, which we thought its up-to-date topic, which is shown also by the increase of submissions бѕ 33% compared to last year. Posters from all continents were sent to this year Skopje Poster competition – the organiser of the festival and president of Plakart Gere Posterov stated at the opening.

The jury members were Michel Bouvet (France), Fons Hickmann ( Germany), Finn Nygaard ( Danmark), Ryszard Kaja (Poland) and Toni Vasikj (Macedonia) after 4-hours jury session selected the 10 best poster authors: two winning, two special jury prizes and six honorary mentions.

The president of the jury Toni Vasikj took the floor to present the best of the best: Miguel Angel Rangel, University of San Louis Potosi, Mexico and Reka Nemedi Varga from the Metropoliten University in Budapest, Hungary.

Next on the festival program are the presentations and workshops of the world-known designers and jury members on the following issues “Macedonia as a travel destination”, “Designing of the influential social and political poster”, ”Poster, the art from the street” and “Designing a jazz poster”.

All the exhibitions (Finalist from 9^th Skopje poster competition; Posters from the winner of 8^th Skopje poster competition; Special selection of jury posters) opened at the yesterday’s festival kick-off will be on display for the public until 30^th of November.

Whitin the frames of the ODW Plakart’s appearance included two projects: Exhibition of the 100 finalist posters from 8. Skopje Poster competition on the issue “Enabled For Disabled” and presentation entitled “Skopje Poster Festival. Rasing people’s awareness of global and social issues trough social design”.

Plakart appearance at the 8. ODW was used by us in two matters, first one is promotion of Skopje Poster Festival as Macedonian design project in front of the creative industries community from Bulgaria. This project particularly corresponds to all of the projects that Plakart is or has been organizing in the past 9 years. The second purpose was promotion of young design talents, including Macedonians, by the exhibition of the finalist posters from 8. Skopjeposter competition “Enabled For Disabled” – Plakart representatives stated.

Poster exhibition was opened alongside the opening of the festival which took place on 10 June and will be opened for visitors until 19 June.

House of Culture Boris Hristov was the venue location for the presentation – primarily addressed to young designers and students of visual communications. Plakart’s representatives has presented the history of Skopje Poster Competition formerly known as International Student Poster Festival, as well as other projects from its portfolio. By organising yet another exhibition of student posters Association of Graphic Designers – Plakart confirmed its role as one of the most important promoters of poster art and contributor in improving conditions of design and creative industries in Macedonia, on the Balkan and worldwide.

Lastly, young designers from Bulgaria were invited to enter 9. Skopje poster competition “Identity In Crisis”.

One Design Week, formerly organised in the capitol of Bulgaria, is one of the most important in the region confirmed by the fact that VIP guest attended its opening – President of the Republic of Bulgaria and Princess of Netherlands.

8. ODW program offer is enormous – exhibitions, presentations, workshops, kids program, focus activities Vishegrad and Nordic Design, Design Forum that will take place on 18 June and will host significant number of designers.

This project – alondside with the Plakart’s co-organisation of SUND Festival in Belgrade in May- was last one this cultural season and additional collaborations will be undertaken from September.

After 7. SUND Festival in Belgrade, Serbia, Plakart and Skopjeposter will take part in One Design Week (Bulgaria) one of the best design venues on the Balkans which will be great opportunity promotion of Balkan’s design.

One Design Week will be officially opened in Plovdiv on 10^th of June and one of the exhibition program activities will be exhibition of posters from 8. Skopje Poster Festival on issue “Enabled For Disabled”. This venue will take place at the House of Culture Boris Hristov.

Representatives from Plakart will as well present on the following topic: “International Student Poster Competition as a Promoter of Social Poster and Its Influence on the awareness of social and global issues”. This presentation has goal to bring closer the ISPC to the Bulgarian audience and will take place on 12 of June from 15h to 16h at the House of Culture Boris Hristov.

Focal point of this year One Design Week will be the Forum at which recognised designers will take part – Eisuke Tachikawa, Adam von Haffner, Alice Rawsthorn, Peter Marigold, Stephen Serrato. One Design Week is part of the EDNO platform along with 2 others happenings – One Architecture Week and One Dance Week. All three festivals are under the patronage of Municipality of Plovdiv and has had moved there from The City of Sofia. In the past years One Design Week has been hosting such design names as Matali Crasset, Michael Marriott, Erik Kessels, Stefan Sagmeister, David Carlson.
