Partnership
PLAKART in partnership with the Mala Stanica – National Gallery of Macedonia announces the Fourth International Student Poster Competition, Skopje 2011 as opened.
The project was carried out through a partnership between PLAKART, Mala Stanica – National Gallery of Macedonia, Warsaw Museum of Poster and AUG the Czech Graphic Design Association. It was realized under auspices of the Ministry of Culture of Macedonia, and supported by the City of Skopje, and several external associates from Poland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, France, Italy, Slovakia, Turkey, Macedonia and other well-known graphic designers.
The cause
“HIV/AIDS” did strive to inspire and provoke the students to create and communicate a more truthful, and inclusive perception of HIV/AIDS, promote prevention and compassion and as well to recognize and renounce stereotypes.

AIDS is a medical condition. A person is diagnosed with AIDS when their immune system is too weak to fight off infections.
Since AIDS was first identified in the early 1980s, an unprecedented number of people have been affected by the global AIDS epidemic. Today, there are an estimated 36 million people living with HIV and AIDS worldwide.

What causes AIDS?
AIDS is caused by HIV.
HIV is a virus that gradually attacks immune system cells. As HIV progressively damages these cells, the body becomes more vulnerable to infections, which it will have difficulty in fighting off. It is at the point of very advanced HIV infection that a person is said to have AIDS. It can be years before HIV has damaged the immune system enough for AIDS to develop.
An estimated 1.8 million people died as a result of AIDS in 2009 alone.
The fact that more than 36 million people throughout the world are affected by HIV/AIDS, shows that this is a devastating disease, one of the most striking example of a problem that overcomes the borders. Recent achievements should not lead to complacent attitudes. In all parts of the world, people living with HIV still face AIDS related stigma and discrimination, and many people still cannot access sufficient HIV treatment and care.
The organizer continue to promote young artist and their posters around the globe, creating traveling exhibitions in Europe and Asia, as one of the goals of this project is to merge the students from world academies and Europe in the territory of the Republic of Macedonia.
ISPC continues with the tradition to bring the poster to the street
For a better communication with the public and stronger effect from the messages, 10 most successful posters HIV/AIDS from the exhibition were displayed in front of the public at the most recurring street in Skopje, “Makedonija” on the first upcoming weekend after the opening. Every single person who passed through the “Makedonija” street, the most frequent walking zone in Skopje, could notice the selected 10 posters that in best way communicate the “HIV/AIDS” message. This does not only formed solid grounds for more efficient understanding and solving of the problems which are typical for the life of the youth, but it also raised awareness of tolerance on higher social and multi-ethnic grounds. We stepped forward in giving the real meaning of the poster, which makes us more effective in promoting the messages than the similar poster manifestations, competitions and biennials in the world.
