Student works from the contest regarding promotional poster entitled “Republic of Macedonia as travel destination”, organised by Plakart, Museum of City of Skopje and Embassy of Republic of Poland to Repbulic of Macedonia, was opened for visitors on Monday evening.
The jury consisting of Laze Tripkov – Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Skopje, Macedonia; Tomislav Mikulcic – director of the Museum of the City of Skopje, Macedonia; Lasko Dzurovski – designer, typographer, owner of Totem – a design studio, Macedonia; Ryszard Kaja – illustrator, poster designer, Poland; Jacek Multanowski – Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in the Republic of Macedonia made a selection from 123 posters from 7 faculties on visual communications and design-related departments from Macedonia.
50 posters were selected to take part in the final exhibition that vernissage took place on Monday evening in Museum of City of Skopje. Along the main exhibition 20 children drawings from the workshop mentored by Polish graphic designer and illustrator Ryszard Kaja during the 9. Skopje Poster Festival in November 2016 are showcased.
The exhibition vernissage was opened for public in the presence of the students – participants, their mentors and professors, children that took part in the workshop with Ryszard Kaja. President of Plakart, Gere Tripkov, Director of the Museum of City of Skopje, Tomislav Mikulcik and Ambassador of Republic of Poland, Jacek Multanowski announce the laureates of this poster contest.
Winners of the main awards that will go on study travel in Poland during the 2017 are Ana Petrova and Ivan Durgutovski from Faculty of Art and Design – European University and Anastasija Jovcheska from Faculty of Design and Multimedia – FON University. Ana, Ivan and Anastasija will have the opportunity to travel and follow the steps of the polish masters of graphic design and to getting acquainted and to study the values and significance of this world-class poster school, experience that will help them grow proffesionally.

Ana Grkovska – student at the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Ss Cyril and Methodius and Lara Marinkovik – student at the Academy of Desing – SEMOS are holders of the honorable mentions. Museum of the City of Skopje will provide Ana and Lara the possibility of internship and collaboration with this marvelous cultural institution on their marketing strategy.

Lastyl, two Special Awards were presented. The Special Award by Ryszard Kaja was received by Kristijan Arsovski – student at the Faculty of Architecture – University of Ss Cyril and Methodius and the Special Award by H.E. Jacek Multanowski was received by Tomislav Akimovski – student at Faculty of Fine Arts – University of Ss Cyril and Methodius.

The exhibition of the studetns posters after its presentation to Skopje’s public will travel trough 18 towns across the country.
The main objective of the competition for student poster entitled “Republic of Macedonia as a Travel Destination”, organized by the Museum of City of Skopje, Plakart and the Embassy of Republic of Poland in Republic of Macedonia, was creating a poster with a contemporary appearance as a design product, which will promote the country with rich cultural heritage, preserved natural resources and rich spiritual treasury. Moreover, this project was meant to unite the creative capacity in an attempt to attract the attention of potential visitors who would fell in love with Macedonia.
This competition was organised within the strategic partnership of Plakart, Museum of City of Skopje and Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Republic of Macedonia. Art-Link network – a connecting link of cultural and educational institution in Macedonia – initiated by the Museum and supported by Plakart took important role in the development of this collaboration.
This project was launched in April 2016 with the exhibition “Polish school of poster” that presented to the Macedonian public one of the oldest and most distinctive schools of posters and the Lecture by Laze Tripkov, director of the Museum of Contemporary Art, which as postgraduate student at the Department lead by the marvelous poster-designer Lech Majewski is representative of the Polish school of poster.
